Institute of BioEcoScience
About Us
The Institute of BioEcoSciences was established in 1998 in Ellicott City, Maryland, reflecting the vibrant energy of the area. We specialize in developing novel sensor devices, biofuels, ecological modelling and climate change. We constantly strive to develop new ideas for potential use in the areas of biology and ecology. Our several patent pending inventions including detection of microbes, conservation of wastes into fuels, enhanced production of lipids, development of markers for detecting amines and novel 'on the spot' detection of secondary metabolities clearly put us ahead of several research centers around the world.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create strong research centers around our core strengths of biology and ecology. Our aim is to develop inexpensive biotechnology tools for everyday use, the applications of which would make marked improvements over existing systems in vogue today.
We strive to make learning fascinating by helping students accomplish challenges and exceed their goals with a strong focus on research.
Research Projects
Teaching
Over the last few years, the Institute has rendered excellent teaching over a number of courses covering Ecology, General Biology and Environmental Sciences. This has aroused curiosity among the students and promoted a sense of intellectualism among the cohort, instilling strong sense of confidence, and with classical working models and examples, has proved to be a motivating factor for students.
The cyber world has strengthened the information conduit, in that facts are available freely across many sources. Therefore, he Institute's teaching philosophy is not to provide facts, but to motivate the students to interpret facts and make pertinent judgmental decisions. These ‘small’ decisions would someday help students become big leaders in their fields of endeavor.
Training
We provide short term training for Biologists who specialize in Ecology and Environmental Sciences. Specialist training that we provided on MaxEnt and WorldClim were received exceptionally well between the years 2012 and 2018 getting us an A Star
We also provide extensive training on analysis of water, soil and air, which is one of the most sought after courses by several of our research and laboratory based organizations
Our 4th batch of GIS students have had excellent stint with the respective employers, many of them commenting that we continue to provide some of the best training available to them
Our short-term goal is to include field based training courses for both budding and experienced ecologists and environmental scientists
Many of the courses that we offer are either subsidized covering only the fee for the chemicals and software, or are totally free for the benefit of the students and researchers alike

Open House
First Saturday of October and March every year
In order to promote a research oriented thinking among the students, the Institute organizes an open house. The visitors are encouraged to interact with the scientists and explore possible collaborative opportunities.
In the past, we have had researchers from other organizations visit us. The open house also serves as opportunities to attract funding for us.
